Mission Statement
The purpose of the Safety Culture and Leadership Subcommittee is to create a space for asset owner (member) and contractor (partner) alignment to manage risk associated with human error. The Safety Culture and Leadership Subcommittee will identify opportunities to understand and improve human performance, Operational Excellence, Behavior Based Safety, Proactive Risk Management, Leadership, and Training and Competency to reduce the likelihood and impact of errors. This effort is to be driven by member and partner leadership to improve safety performance and reduce incidents.
Objectives
- The Safety Culture and Leadership subcommittee will share practices, and adopt, and develop practical tools that can be implemented at all levels of participating organizations.
- Promote the understanding and adoption of key human performance principles that provide a foundation for reducing the likelihood and severity of safety incidents.
- Expand the use of human performance, leadership and operational excellence practices and methodologies across member/partner companies by developing practice-sharing documents, job aids, workshops, and other mechanisms as appropriate.
- Develop safety cultural and leadership assessment protocols that members and partners may use to measure progress or benchmark performance.
- Coordinate learning opportunities amongst subcommittee team members for continuous improvement.
- Identify opportunities to expand the judgment criteria of safety awards to include innovative ways of incorporating human performance.
Meetings
- When: The Safety Culture and Leadership subcommittee meets on the first (1st) Wednesday of each month (except the July and December “Combined” committee/subcommittee meeting)
- Time: 8:00 AM - 10:00 AM
- Where: HASC Auditorium/Teams
